«She is not simply a pianist but a real artist.» (Le Devoir, Canada)
Although only 19 years old, pianist Beatrice Rana has been accumulating the most prestigious awards: among them, in June 2011, she received the First Prize of the Montreal International Competition, where she was also awarded all special prizes. At 18 years of age, she was the youngest winner in the competition’s history.
Winner of numerous international distinctions (Muzio Clementi, San Marino International Piano Competition, PianoRAMA Bang & Olufsen), Beatrice Rana was part in 2010 of a very narrow selection of 6 pianists participating in the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Prize, which offered her a recital and masterclasses with Arie Vardi. Furthermore, her concerts have been recorded by major radio broadcasting corporations such as RAI, ORF in Austria, DR in Denmark, Radio-France and CBC.
Beatrice Rana began her piano studies at age 4, and became the student of Benedetto Lupo at the Conservatory of Music Nino Rota, from which she precociously graduated at age 16. Her playing combines power, coherence, subtility and an absolutely outstanding palette of sounds. Her career is now on the rise, as she receives invitations from numerous orchestras, festivals and chamber societies throughout the world. She currently studies with Arie Vardi in Hamburg.
She will play in concert on Sunday, February 24, at 3:30PM at the Bourgie Hall (1380, Sherbrooke Street West).
